My New Tank

Hello all,

My name is Mark. I have just gotten back into the hobby after a few years away. My new tank is a 75 gallon. I going at it without a sump. I know I know a sump makes things easier but what is a hobby without a challenge. I guess that is a word for it. I'm going with a deep sand bed. I like the way it looks and the benefits are great in my opinion. I have 2 Koralia Magnum 5's for flow. I also have a BRS Dual Reactor and Coralife Super Skimmer 125. I know the Super Skimmers get a bad rap but we shall see. I decided to purchase a RO/DI this time because I hated buying water all the time for WC's and top off. I purchased the BRS Chloramines 6 Stage Deluxe. Works great by the way. I also decided to make things easier and purchased the Tunze ATO system. Worth every penny. Topping off was my biggest problem the last time. I also purchased the BRS 2-part dosing system with dosers. I was going to wait on this until I really needed it but it was on sale recently so I bit the bullet. I won't start dosing until its needed. Now the lights. I first purchased the Aquaticlife G12/T5 combo but didn't like the spot light look. So I returned it and got the Aquaticlife 6 bulb T5 fixture.

Here are a few pics.

I built my stand.

Just the rock.

Gotta love sand.

The sand storm cleared.

The spot lights I wasn't too fond of.

Where I am at now.

Well after reading many many posts on here I have decided to QT. I have one question that I haven't found a solid answer on. When I put a fish in to observe it for a month or more do I proactively treat it or observe and treat if needed?

Thanks for looking. Sorry for being so long and thanks for all the advice I have read so far.

Mark

I am a couple weeks in. I am glad I finally got water into the tank. Everyday I went without the tank up and running I would read more and buy something. The wife and wallet were not too enthusiastic about that.

75 is a great size tank

We started out with a 55, was just too narrow...

It has definitely worked for me so far. I'm now in the fundraising/wife convincing mode for a 265 gallon. Will be using the 75 for the sump.

Here is an updated pic of the tank. The 265 never came to realization. Maybe one day.
