New Tank Smells

Hi guys, after a 7 year break from the hobby, I have just started a new 500l tank. It has been filled for 3 days now and has become really smelly. Not just ocean smell but like something is dead in there lol.
I haven't fired the skimmer up as from memory I gave it a good couple weeks of running before doing this last time. Any suggestions?

Are you moving the water or just letting it sit stagnant?
Filled with what?

Yea the sump is active and I've got a wave maker in there working as well. Running dupla salt and mixing myself. Should I crank the skimmer up now?

Do you have live rock in the tank? If there was any die off you would expect it to smell.
