Hydra 52 hd's not matching color??
So I just got 2 Hydra 52 HD for my 120. After install and connecting I noticed a color difference between the two lights. I went through all colors individually and it seems that the royal blue is the channel/color with the difference. One light is a a more lighter teal-is blue and the other is more darker. So if I set lights to 20000K mode at 80% you can see the difference in the two. Anyone run into this before, any ideas?

I also have 2 Hydra 52 HDs over my 55g. They look similar. But I have them 15" apart so they may look blended together. I have mine set at around 20k.

I have 3 52HD and 2 match while the 3rd one is a bit different in blues as well. It's only really noticeable when I look at the led itself so haven't bothered to address it

Likely a different bin (or whole different LED) is being used. I'd think AI would control this better...

Well I contacted AI this morning and discussed the issue with them. The gentleman I spoke with said this was a "calibration issue". They are sending me a new one to match one of my along with a return label for my bad one.

There are some Euro. versions of the Hydra 52. I own a Hydra 52eu and can tell you they replaced the deep blue with that teal blue giving a cooler blue look, they call it a euro look. So basically it seems as if you had someone replace a puk or two with the 52 euro puck. I have two and two on mine. Gives it the color I prefer.

Figured I'd share as I stumbled across this thread and have/had a similar issue.
I have 4 older AI Vega colors. Two fixtures "deep blue" LED's do not match the other two. They have always been this way since owning them and remain this way after years of firmware updates. Just as gonefishn had described, two fixtures (inner) emit that dark deep blue color and the other two (outer) are more of a darker royal blue. Very noticeable on final ramp down. |
