Salifert Ammonia test

Hey Reefers,

I am just wondering about Salifert's ammonia test.

When I am test, after 3 minutes the solution is milky. It doesn't have any real color to it, its as if you would add a drop of milk to water. I tested just regular RODI water and its crystal clear. Should the SW be crystal clear as well?

It doesn't line up with any color on the test chart as its more white and no yellow.

I'm worried now that my fish are in jeopardy!

Same ammonia kit I have... I believe this is normal and you have zero ammonia. Have you tested nitrites? Usually those would stay longer as the bacterial takes more time to grow to catch up to bio load.

Nitrites are at 0 and Nitrates 10-25.

Tank has been cycled for over a month.

Although not 100% you might try an ammonia alert badge just to get an added degree of comfort with the test results.

Your LFS should have one.
