skimming alone
so i have been running a canister filter in conjunction with my HOB Reef Octopus skimmer on my 75 gallon.
seems recently there is an increasing amount of micro bubble that will periodically come out of the return of canister.... my Octopus is a BH-1000 and rated for a 100 gallon tank. would skimmer be sufficient if i shut down the canister?

IMO, it depends on how much live rock you have in there.

Sure it will be fine..
Canister filters really serve little purpose in a saltwater tank.. A skimmer and sufficient flow via powerheads is all a saltwater tank really needs..

I concur. I have been running a HOB skimmer with 50 Ibs of LR and a dual reactor with good water flow and parameters are all within normal limits. Just keep up with water changes and you will be all set.
