My first anemone. Is everything ok?

Ok, so I got a purple tip sibae.

It seems to be ok, the only "issue" is that is not attaching to anything, it just stays where I put it, but no attachment happens.

Im posting a picture in 2 different places I put it, the stomach is inside, no sign of rejection, I placed a piece of frozen fish near the stomach to see if it eats something.

Nice! I used to have one of these. They're actually called a malu anemone. It will not immediately attach, it will move around first and then when it finds a spot it likes THEN it will attach. It looks fine for now but you never know.

Just let him be for the first week. He will move around and find his preferred spot.

Just try to let him be and not touch him. He needs to get use to the new tank.

Oh yeah, one more thing:
Don't use frozen fish or thawed frozen fish. You see, the anemone has different standards than humans for things it can eat, therefore, even if a food is safe for US to eat, it may be harmful to tge anemone.

I'm no anemone expert, but things look fine to me. Is he opening up well everyday? If so then i don't think anything is wrong. Like people said above, let it move around, mine kept changing spots for a whole month!

The only thing I would add is that it is horribly bleached out. Give it time and leave it be.

If you can return it and get one that's not white that would be great because then you don't need to feed it, it will live off the light

If it is a sabae anemone, it is bleached for sure. It will regain its color under sufficient lights and direct feeding. But, if the leg is not sticky, it wont be able to anchor itself and you will hate it moving around and start killing other corals.

I can't return it..... Sadly in Costa Rica policies for LFS is different since it's a very small market.

Any advice on how to recover it?

As long as the foot is not damaged,it will recover if placed under proper lighting and direct feeding. Meaty food is your best food. If it catches the offering and eating, it will recover.

Well the anemone has not attached to anything. THe foot seems to be retracted all the way. I dont see it moving or anything trying to change spot. Some times it flips and the mouth is in the sand...

Direct feeding it, seems to respond...

My main issue is that if it goes free it may end up in a cave where I cant reach and die there.

Or do I just leave it be and see what happens?

I say let it be, might still have a chance, but if u see it start to melt, or break apart take it out...

If you are worried about it going AWOL in your tank, put a tuperware container in the tank with some rubble rock. Put it in the container.

Goal is to get it to attach to the rubble rock. So you can then focus on getting it healthy.

You will see fish stores do this with anemones, shrooms, zoas, etc. You also see them use plastic colanders (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...pf_rd_i=289761) in frag tanks to do the same thing.

They to place it neat rock work with crevices in not too much flow.

I feed mine small pieces 1/8 X 1/8 fresh shrimp 2-3 times a week.
