Apex Salinity Module/Probe.. How do you programme/use it?
I am currently waiting for the Apex Salinity Module and Probe to arrive and was wondering how I could programme it to keep my Salinity as stable as possible?
I was thinking of using it in combination of my ATO and also water change system (using DOS) and wondering if it is possible. Lets say the salinity fall, then I would tell it to take water from my Saltwater Container and if it goes up, then the ATO would activate. Do anyone use it like this? and if so, how have you programmed it? Thanks a lot for any help I can get. |

Well I am sure others will chime in, but I would say you probably do not want to use it as you stated. I have the salinity probe, and although I do like it and it is good as a reference point I'd never use it to trigger my ATO or a saltwater bin. They can vary and need to be calibrated often.
Now I do use my salinity probe as an alarm, so for instance if my ATO stuck on and dumped too much RO/DI it'll let me know. |

Same here. Readings will drift every once in a while when a bubble or pineapple sponge gets on the probe tip. I've gotten up in the morning before and seen a reading of 4. A quick shake of the probe and it is back to 37 (which is really 35 in my main system).
The only reason I have it is just for a quick reference and to detect a slow drift in either direction early--I have small daily auto water changes set up so I want to know if salinity is consistently drifting.

Also agree. Once you have it installed you will see that it drifts enough that you will not trust it for anything more than a reference.
