Cycle a new tank with existing tank
Hi guys I am setting up a new tank with new dead rocks, I never cycled a tank with dead rocks before I wonder what can I do to speed up the process.
I bought a new seachem ammonia alert and it shows 0 ammonia on day 5. 1. wash my filter socks from the old tank in the new tank 2. use seachem stablity 3. whatever you recommend? I don't want to reuse my old rocks or sands cause it has lots of vrmetid snails thanks |

Biospira from Instant Ocean. It will make your tank cycled almost instantly. I've used it many times, and it's a good alternative to feeding the tank and waiting for the bacteria to develop. You still want to take it slow when populating the tank.

Another bacteria product similar to that would work. Although, I'm not sure what's available in Canada.

Dr tims is about the same. I would do ammonia. That's what I did and it works well.
FYI I would replace the substrate, but if you use muriatic acid on your current rocks, there won't be anything alive on them lol. Plus you will eliminate a lot of the po4 from the old and the new dry rock.
