It's funny how a simple, cheap invertebrate can offer plenty of satisfaction and entertainment in its own right. I've had a few people tell me that they really enjoyed watching my hermit crabs, didn't really comment on the corals or fish. Granted these people knew nothing about the hobby or the complexity behind the fish and corals, just enjoying a living creature from an unbiased point of view.

They can actually be very interesting, especially if you have several.
It's funny when they try to steal each others shells ...

I find myself watching my hermit crabs and snails all the time! especially when the hermits size up shells and swap! I also like seeing the nassarius snails glide out of the sand when its feeding time.

I have a tank full of corals and fish, but what I enjoy the most is all the other inhabitants like hermits, emerald crab, sea cucumbers, clams, flame scallop, sea stars, anemones, shrimp...

Our first inhabitants were a turbo, a couple nassarius and a halloween hermit. The hermit is all we have left from the first CuC. My son named him Jack because since he's a halloween hermit, jackolantern just made sense to go with Jack. My son is three and has to say goodnight to him every night before bed or he wont sleep.

CUC and inverts are as much fun, if not more fun, to watch than the fish and corals.

I sometimes think of larger fish as the things which catch visitors attention across the room, smaller fish draw them in, and the invertebrates hold their attention in the end.

I totally agree. Watching them feels like they're always in some epic adventure.

Big fan of my cleaner and fire shrimp, and my sexy shrimp. Love my pom poms too. Hermits are annoying, I always have to flip them over or get them unstuck from some crevice, or they're picking on one of my snails.

It's NOT funny when they attack your snails and kill them.

I once watched an emerald crab drill into the sand and came back up with one of my nessarius snails in it's claws. Shredded the snail to bit before my eyes.
