Gsp help
Hi, I bought a frag of Gsp about 2 months ago and seen no growth at all,
Also the green polyps are very short. They look fully extended, so I don't think it's not opening fully. My question is will they grow to be long like all the other gsp you see? It's the bright green type. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Last edited by Arf82; 10/03/2016 at 12:46 PM. |

How big is your tank? What kind of lighting do you have?

Do you have any pictures? Also, what lighting are you using?
I have never seen GSP fail to take over a tank -- it is very difficult to upset them...

I have a 21gallon nano. V2 iluminair leds. There placed on a rock just off the sand bed. All parameters are good. All other corals are growing great, I have a 2 month old Duncun was 3 heads now has 7 new heads. Thanks.

If the GSP looks healthy then give it some time. I've had soft coral and SPS not grow for months and all of a sudden start taking off. No parameter changes that coincided.

It looks healthy enough, nice purple mat, and brightish green polyps. Just no growth.

Small frags take longer to grow so you may not see the explosive growth rate some people report right away. Also GSP can handle a fair amount of light. If possible raise the frag and you may see more growth.
Also there are a few different species sold as green star polyp. Mine for example have a beige mat but very long polyps. |

Do you think the polyps I have will Eventually grow longer? It's the bright green type I have.
Still trying to upload a photo but it's still not working. |

First off, you need to list your water parameters for us to get a gauge on this. Alk, Mg, SG, etc. will all be helpful. What kind of lights are you running, where are they located in the tank (top, middle, bottom). Provide us that information and maybe we can get a better answer or suggestion for you.

Lights are v2 iluminair 600 leds. The gsp is just off the sand bed on a rock.
Alk; 9 Ca; 400 SG; 1.026 Phosphates; 0 Nitrates; 10ppm Ph; 8.1 I don't have a mg test kit. Thanks. |
