Hello, i need help in a few things.

Hey everyone.

Im a beginner to SW tanks. I have an 8.5 gal tank with a HOB filter system (includes protein skimmer)

I have sand in my tank and a 2.5 kg live rock.

Livestock:

1 true sebae clownfish
1 similar damsel
1 smalllllll slug

I have a power head that I installed last night, a heater and an oxygen pump (not always on).

I'm thinking of buying a 27W led blue and white lamp that hangs over the tank.

I just wanted your guys' opinion on my tank, and if you have any suggestions/comments then please let me know!! thanks!!

Is this your first tank? Generally in saltwater aquariums, smaller is harder. You really need to stay on top of top off water, water changes, and general maintenance. Water quality can and will go bad very quickly in such a small tank. I honestly think in a 8.5 gallon tank, one fish is enough. The damsel will probably pick on the clown fish and eventually kill it. If it doesn't kill it, the stress could be an issue.

Yeah, i found out that smaller is harder after i set it all up.. so yeah its too late now, thanks though.

About the fish, i honestly think 2 is a fitting number cuz otherwise the tank would be empty.

And both the clown and damsel are getting along very nicely, its been less than 24 hrs since i introduced the clown into the tank. They are always around each other, and when i fed them today, both of them were eating very well.

Btw can i put in like 2-4 small/tiny hermit crabs in there? or will that be too much? (from my beach)

You can definitely put in hermit crabs and snails. Actually that will be good for the tank. Be very very careful with putting anything in from your beach as the chances of them introducing a disease to the tank is much higher than buying from a reputable store. It can be done, but it's very risky and something many people would never consider.

The tank is much too small for the damsel, and probably for the clown. Damsels take 50 gallons for one, or 100 gallons for multiples. Clowns are also damsels but are a shade more tolerant of small space.
