Did not mean anything by my comment, just pondering whether it would be a noticeable difference on my tank and not a waste of money

Kies1 what size is your tank? I would think with a 48'' tank a 300 would not need the 120 degree optics.

Hard to tell. Raise it as high as you can. If you have access to a par meter it would greatly help you

What are the dimensions of your tank? Is that the 27" Razor?

I hate my razor, way too many white chips and too many "blue" instead of "royal blue." Back to DIY LED or a nice DIY LED/T5 hybrid.

Standard 90 gallon and yes I think the standard optics work well, but you know when there is something to add or change it is always intriguing. Have had great success with this light, think I will save the money for something else. It is a great light and in my opinion totally under rated.

So I switched my lighting again. I now have a single Radion xr30w with the tir wide lense.

The top photo is the factory lense. The bottom photo has the wide lense. You can see the vortechs are getting more light now.

Been running the 120 watt razor for 2 years over my 30gal and have been very pleased. Saw some kessils at the LFS just prior to my upgrade to a new 80 gal and really liked them. The only way I could to see to solve which direction to go was actually simple, use both.
Now I have the 120 watt razor and two kessil 160's over my new 80 gal and I'm luvin it.
