BioCube 32 or JBJ Nano 28 LED
Which would you prefer as they are both about $300?
The JBJ gets awful ratings for reliability of its lights. However this model of Biocube is new and the updates untested. JBJ uses an overflow with dual returns. BC uses a low drain with one return. JBJ has better lights, manual switch on modes but fans only run when lights are on. BC has a timer for lights and modes. Fans run constantly. |

I want the clean look at the end of my kitchen table so that why I'm looking at these cube tanks. My house is in a dusty rural area, so I won't go topless. |

I saw video where a guy removed the lid and the filters, so basically he paid $300 for a cube shaped 29gallon tank. Seemed very strange. |

I also got rid of the hood and added a AI Prime HD. The reason was for better lighting and less heat. I bought the JBJ 28 gallon used.

Find a Coralife Biocube 29 instead and retrofit it with aftermarket LED lights from a Rapid LED, Nanobox or Steve's LEDs. I like the BC29 over the BC32 as the new one no longer has the rear maintenance door in the rear of the hood. Also, you'll end up swapping out the stock lighting regardless of which tank you choose as you progress in the hobby and want more light demanding corals like SPS. There are more aftermarket filter options for the Biocube 29 from manufacturers like InTank. There are a lot of reefers out there with modded BC29 out there from which you could draw on their collective wisdom. Check out my build thread in my signature. Happy Reefing!
