Any one know how to replace the flap on a refractometer ?

Bought a new flap but cannot figure out how to replace it.
My refractormeter is a generic ATC one.

It looks like this:

Tried that, pin is not moving, could it be possible they are glued?

use more force....there is no glue press fit.. i never had to take mine apart... saw your post took mine apart in 10 seconds just cause... with a large paperclip.... where did you even purchase parts from? a new one is $20....

I also need a flap for my Milwaukee. I bought a new one from Amazon but if i can get the flap i will like to repair the Milwaukee.

I emailed Red Sea but didnt get response.

As stated you need to push (drive) the pin out.. It WILL take some force for sure..

look closely at the pin....one end may be a little larger than the other, you need to push it out from the smaller side

Forget where to buy or how to replace - just how do you destroy a refractometer flap without destroying the instrument itself?

Because it felt down and only broke the flap. I am actually using it like that putting manually the flap on the screen until I receive the new one.

you might also want to try carefully applying some penetrating oil like wd40 or pb blaster to the pin that holds the flap on.

i know after a few years of use, mine are starting to rust, so a bit of gentle chemical coercion might go a long way to helping you slide the pin out.

i wouldn't spray it, i would use an eye dropper to apply only the smallest amount.

Thanks guys, I found it in my LFS in Canada. You may able to find it online or have it special ordered from LFS since it's from Vertex
