Stand against heater??

Hello,

I finally closed on my new house and I will be getting a fish tank that will be for a sting ray and shark for my basement. The stand will be against the heater that you can see in this picture. Will this be a problem, or can I simply just keep it like 1-2 inches off the heater and have no problem.

This is a water based radiator.

While not ideal, I think you will be ok as long as you leave a few inches. Putting furniture in front of a heater is discouraged in general to avoid blocking the heat from circulating into the room. But it is not feasible to completely keep your furniture away from baseboard heaters.

We have oil baseboard heat, and it is pretty efficient comapred to forced air systems. The heater stays warm for a long time after the system turns off. If that heater is electric, well, forget about efficiency.

A word of caution: the cover on heaters tend to be very rust prone if exposed to moisture. We have always fought this in our bathrooms in spite of numerous coats of rustoleum and replacing the cover in one bathroom. So you will need to be very careful of splashes and drips.

I'm going to place my in my family room right in front of my hotwater baseboards. I have some fiberglass sheets, (think gas station bathroom) that I'm goin the put in front of the register. Probably 3-4 feet high by another foot or so wide. I spent tons of time sandblasting and painting them.
