Coral closes up after water change.
Hey everyone
I was wondering I have one Coral that kind of retracts after I do a water change. Does anyone else experienced this? The only thing that really changes is my nitrates go down and my alkalinity goes up. Alkalinity is usually 8 to 9 after a water change its usually around 11. This is a picture of the coral that does it. None of my other corals react. |

Its fairly normal for corals to close up during a water change/when disturbed..
Sounds like you might want to look into dosing to maintain stable parameters between water changes.. A swing in alk can cause issues..

Flower pots are very sensitive. 11 does seem high for a salt mix. What brand of salt? Are you adding a buffer to your mix?

You could also consider smaller more frequent water changes to prevent the big alk swing.
