"Real Reef"

I was wondering if it would be okay the real reef rock in a pico? I know its not vey porous and but I will only have one shrimp in the pico. Do I need the added bio filtration of actual liverock or will this man made stuff work?

It works just fine. I have it exclusively in my small tank and about half the rock in my bigger tank is real reef as well. Your substrate will contribute to your bio filter too but you should be fine either way.
