What's on my coral !?

My coral has been Doing great for months and now it has some crazy white stuff growing on it and it's preventing it from opening. It looks like a spider web. Anyone know what this is and if I can fix it ?

It looks like a sponge of some sort IMO. You might want to get yourself a stiff brush and see if you can remove it.

I would have never thought of that. Weird that it popped up after having the coral for about 2 months. I may have to give that a go

Who are you guys man. Sponges are some of the Best fter feeders and indicate a healthy reef. Do nothing.

I am not sure that is a sponge.. GSP can way outgrow a sponge unless there is some Dangerously high nutrient issues ..From my experience . and i have some Awesome and and super colorful sponge in my tank from purple bright yellow green and a Huge orange one..

This like like stringy bacteria of some sort...

Maybe im wrong ..

****. Looks like I'm gonna have to bring the frag to my local shop and see if those guys know anything. I just noticed it growing on another one of my hammer frag plugs too. Hasn't reached the hammer though like it's reached this coral. Gotta figure this out !

If it is sponge it will brush right off and it could be but having that much all over..

Google White stingy bacteria ,algae in my reef tank ...

You can compare what you have to more images better then we can guess ..
