What do you think? Silicone seal issue.
Had to move the tank tonight to another area of the apartment and noticed a chunk of silicone missing.
The aquarium itself is used for my planted tank, and there is nothing living inside that could damage the silicone, nor do I used any equipment or cleaning equipment that could do this. The tank is an Aqueon 36 gallon bowfront and was bought in November 2016. When I inspected the tank prior to purchase it did not look like this and there is another area on the opposite side that looks the same, just a smaller scale. I attached a photo of the chunk missing. What do you think? I've never encountered this happening before, so not sure if its a serious issue. |

I think it's fine, it's something that happens over time with most tanks. I wouldn't be to happy about it with the tank only being a couple months old. If the silicone is coming off already then it makes u wonder how the rest of the tank will hold up over time. I don't see it as a issue how it is now so it will be up to u if it will be worth it trying to deal with a warranty.
It's the silicone that is inbetween the panes of glass that is the important part. If u start to see air bubbles in the seams inbetween the panes of glass that's when it's time to worry. The inner seal that u show in the pic does help some on tanks with thinner glass, but it is really there to protect the seam inbetween the panes of glass. |

Some of the newer tanks don't even bother with that inner seal and just use the seal between the glass panels. I wouldn't worry about it.
