Increase plumbing size after overflow?

I read somewhere that you should upsize your plumbing after it exits the tank to help quit everything down. Is this true? Or whatever size the bulkhead is fine?

It depends on a bunch of things but u are usually fine keeping them the same as the bulkhead. Really need to know the size of the bulkheads, the size of the system & what type of drains u are running before u could get a answer. On a bean animal drain it can help in some cases to upsize the open channel to make it a little quieter but that's not always the case.

There are 2 1.5" bulkheads on the back wall of the tank that I am going to put a pvc wier between and then have durso stand pipes on the outside of the tank. The tank is 180 gallon tank. 6'x2'x2'

If that's what u decide to do then I don't think upsizing will help anything but I'm no expert on a durso.

How quiet are u wanting the tank to be? With the holes u have now it will be the quietest & be able to handle more flow if u run a herbie drain. Personally, I wouldn't set up a tank again without doing a bean animal drain but that would cause u to have to drill another hole. With eighther of these u would have to install a overflow box but to me it would be well worth it.

I don't have the slots cut in the pvc weir but this is the idea I'm going for. I also need to pick up a couple street L's to get it closer to the bulkheads.
