Bubble Magus Curve 5 'muffler'

Just bought a new Bubble Magus Curve 5 and needless to say the instruction are ridiculously bad. I don't know why they don't just ask someone who speaks English to write out their instructions properly, would only take 5 minutes, but still.

My question is the 'muffler' with the two tubes, one up and one down inside a larger cylinder. Is this supposed to have a small amount of water in it? If not I don't really see the point? The instructions don't even mention this part and can't see anything online. One video I saw had water in it but didn't mention why.

Thanks. Steve.

No water should be in there. Not sure why the video had water in there other then to trap the dust that collects in there to stay in the "muffler".

No water needed..

Its similar principles to how a car muffler works.. bouncing sound waves,etc...
It works..

And if you lose the cap like I did, just know that a Coca-Cola cap fits it perfectly.

My LFS owner had the idea.. Took his Coca-Cola cap off his drink, drilled a hole in the middle, and stuck a hard acrylic tube in it. Needless to say, you almost can't tell the difference in looks let alone noise haha.

I like it. I have plenty of Coca Cola around the place so backup is ready.

Thanks for putting me straight. It's finally up and running however I don't see why it's got a muffler is still bloody noisy.
