Battery backup on the new Maxspect 200 controller

Got a question for you guys, I have just bought the new Maxspect 200 advanced controller and two XF-280 gyre pumps for my 600 gallon tank. They are great pumps and really give me massive flow in my 10' tank.

Anyway I have a slight challenge getting the controller connected to a battery back up. As you know there are dedicated connectors to plug into the controller and in the said controllers you are to connect the 12 V batteries of your choice.

So, that is what I have done. I chose a 75 amp car battery and connected it all up. To my surprise when I cut power it the controller it goes black and turn the pumps of in spite of the fact that the battery is connected. Anybody have experienced this problem and solved it?

Any input is greatly appreciated, hope I have explained myself good enough as English is not my native tongue. If not please ask me to clarify and I'll do it in Norwegian hehe or old Norse language😂

have you got it connected properly? when I connected my backup battery I had connected the wires the wrong way round on the battery and the screen went black.

When it works there is no interruption, the screen remains on but the pump output changes to the 20% power mode.

I would recommend getting a twin spot light emergency back up system. That's what I have, I just disconnected and removed the two spot lights then wired the controller up to the system.

I suppose I've done it correctly. Center is positive and the outside of the
plug is negative if that's what you mean.

Most DC connectors are negative on the outside and positive on the inside, im not sure if the maxspects follow this but the easy way to find out is to swap them over and see if the controller works.

Other than that I don't really know what would cause the back up to not work. how is the battery being charged or is it not?

Maxspect is running positive inside and outside negative. I am using a trickle charger.
I don't understand this, it should be straight forward. It states cleary where to plug in the 12v and where to put the power supply not he connector in the kit but it just doesn't work. This shouldn't be rocket sciene

when you test it are you turning off the power to the gyre and the power to the trickle charger at the same time?
