Gyre 230 and existing closed loop pump

I'm redoing my 90 gallon in wall that was running a MAK4 pump on a closed loop using an OM squirt as a wavemaker. Planning on keeping Softies and LPS corals.

The Squirt has bit the dust and instead of replacing it ($400 plus), I'm considering the below options:

1) remove the closed loop , plug the bulkheads and use ONLY the Maxspect Gyre 230.
2) Use the GYRE 230 and supplement flow by removing the OM squirt, repipe the closed loop as one inlet and one outlet.

Thoughts? Recommendations?

A single 230 isn't much flow for a 90gal.

Ok, thanks. I think I'll use the MAK4 as recirc flow and supplement with the gyre 230.
