Can I put chaeto in my HOB skimmer?

I have a reef octopus BH-2000 skimmer (system has no sump). Wondering if anyone has experience with using chaeto in the one chamber. I'm looking for additional nitrate control as well as increased pod population.

You will need a lot more chaeto and space to actually control any sort of nitrates in your system. You can purchase an HOB fuge and make a deep sandbed which will serve a much greater purpose. I did this to my 7 gallon pico at work and strapped on a finnex hob fuge. The tank is bulletproof and I do have some chaeto in it. But it did fine without the chaeto.

Idk if I'd put it in the skimmer myself. If you're HOB look into the finnex HOB refugium. I picked one up on ebay for $30 shipped to the door. The thing works great is dead silent and has plenty of room for ruble rock and cheato, I even have a nice chunk of red seaweed that growing like crazy too. I have on old 12" t5 over it that I had laying around. But you can opt for the finnex light as well.

How big would the HOB fuge have to be for it to be effective? DT is 75g. The finnex HOB I see only holds 1g..which is the same as my skimmer.

The finnex will likely be too small. I know there are other HOB fuges out there. I was assuming you had a smaller display. I have the finnex on a 20 long and as the guy before me mentioned his tank is 7 gallons... If you're running a sump Id plumb one in with a 5 or 10 gallon.... if no sump look up Chaeto reactor, you should be able to make one fairly easy and cheap with a HOB reactor or buy the one from marine depot I think its around $170.
