Back in hobby w/ a few Q's...

Hey everyone! I am excited to be back in this wonderful hobby. Had to take a year off since we just built our new home.

Very basic question that I am hoping someone can answer.

I have old Live Rock that has been sitting in some 5 gallon buckets from my old tank. So, I guess we can call it dead rock now. If I want to re-use this rock again what do I need to do? Also, do I need to purchase a few pieces of LR to get the system going again? Will the new pieces of LR, make the old pieces of dead rock become alive again?

Thank you in advance for your answers. It is greatly appreciated and look forward to getting my system setup shortly.

Rinse of with RO water. Purchasing new live will help cure the old rocks & will also help the cycle or you can also add chemicals too. Welcome back to the hobby

If you want to be real safe, cure it in a bucket, but I don't think that's necessary.

definitely rinse it off well and adding it with a live rock would make the process quicker.
