Best Quarantine Supplements to have on hand - My 1st time around
Setting up my first QT and coral QT this weekend... I was going to order some medications/supplements to start the process .... what is the most recommended or common things to have ?
I was thinking prazi-pro and cupramine for the fish ... I have read this is normally what to start with , but if you do see signs of diseases, what else is needed? And the bayer pesticide stuff or coral rx for the coral ... want to cover all my bases.... lps, sps... what else? Stupid question probably ... where do inverts go in the quarantine process? Thanks for any input

IMO, Prazi-Pro, Formalin, and CP. I do not use cooper as I think it is too dangerous for the fish. Oh, I have 2 spare 10 gallon tanks for TTM.

Have some antibiotics on hand. I keep furan-2 and Kanamycin in stock. Kanamycin is absorbed so can be good for internal issues. As already mentioned, I have prazipro also.

I keep, and I have always used, Seachem Paraguard, PraziPro, and Cupramine in that order.

Thanks for the response.... I went to seachems websites and shows what medicatation treat parasites, fungal, etc...
I'm confused why people have both Paraguard and Cupramine, when it says Paraguard treats all the infections, while cupramine only treats parasites ? So why get both when one covers the other as well as more things?

Check twice for flukes - I've used prazi several times on fish and still have seen signs of flukes. Yes, this is with TTM. Paraguard is more general in what it attacks. plus you have to treat it EVERY DAY - kinda tough if you are doing 30+ days of ich treatment. While Cu is a bit more stressful to the fish it stays in solution longer so once you get it set you don't have to adjust every day. |

So my question is lets say that for all 3 major disease. Are this the meds that you should have?
ICH-CUPRAMINE BROOK- PARAGUARD? I cant fin formalin where I live, and also for my understanding once open it has a very short lifespan VELVET- I was using CUPRAMINE but again I cant find chloroquine phosphate in my country. Any suggestions? Last edited by juanmanuelsanch; 01/27/2017 at 01:34 PM. |

I have Prazipro and Cupramine on hand, though the forums have made me afraid of using the Cupramine! I have a fish with a white spot right now and I'm really hoping it's just that lympho-whatever disease and not ich.

Couple things that I have found to work :
1) Copper Power -4 weeks 2) Dr. G's De-Wormer Caviar - 10 Days 3) Prazi- few days 4)General Cure 48/72 hours water change (20%)run carbon for 5 days great results. everything varies but had great success with that

Paraguard does not work on ich. That's why you also need copper. Or use TTM.

I have a coral/invert QT tank that doesn't have fish. I QT anything wet that isn't a fish for a minimum of 72 days fallow.
I keep Metro, Prazi, CP, Formalin, Cupramine, furan-2, Kanamycin, and a few others I don't remember right now. Bayer and Iodine for corals.
