Wavemaker question for 120g

I have a 120g. I got a powerful Jebao tw60 and run it at it's lowest setting, around 2600 gph. Is this too much flow for a reef 120?

Is it adversely affecting your corals?

don't think so, they are definitely waving around a lot more, when I was playing around, they had some slimy stuff coming off of them.

2600/120 = 21x
Its certainly not too much..

In general 30x display tank size is a good starting point.. This would include all powerheads and return pump flow if you have a sump..

Some SPS tanks run 75-100x as they like lots of flow..

Personally I try to shoot for around 50x in a mixed reef..

So it's normal for them to constantly be moving?! The anemoney was fluttering around quite a bit when I put the power head on the other side of the tank

Go watch videos of real "reefs" on youtube..
That stuff is MOVING.. Currents can be very strong,etc..

Now there is a point where soft tissue corals are getting damaged by excessive movement/ripping their tissue on their own skeleton,etc... but I highly doubt you are there.. and its usually easy to see when its "swaying,etc.." versus violent abuse..

They should certainly be swaying/moving though..

Depending on how much flow you have from your return pump it is likely you don't have enough flow, certainly not too much!
