Ati sunpower + Hydra 26s

So for my new 165 I was planning on using 4 hydra 26 hd lights with a couple retro fit T5s in front and back. This would involve build a light frame and or canopy.

I've decided a hanging T5 fixture would look cleaner, so now I'm thinking about buying an ATI sunpower 8x80 and removing the middle four bulbs.

Has anyone done this for Hydras? My concern is the fixture is 2.1" tall and my black hydras are 1.5" tall. After mounting an allowing space for the hydras' fans, I'm concerned about them sticking a bit.

After removing the reflectors, is it just open space until the frame? I know there are fans in there, but what about the rest?

I wish Sunlight supply Tek fixtures were still around. I think that would have been perfect for my plans.

Other option would be to sell the hydras and have Nano box reef, retro the sunpower with their LED arrays.
