Suggestions for a wave maker for 130" long tank

I just ordered a 24.5" tall x 25.5" wide x 130" long 340 gallon tank from glass cages and I'm looking for suggestions on wave makers to use on such a long tank. I have two mp40s from my previous 180 setup that I was thinking about pairing with two new mp60s but I wasn't sure if that would be enough flow. The tank will be mostly sps and lps. Thanks in advance.

2 x MP60 + 2 x MP40 is perfect IMO for an SPS tank of that size..

How thick is the glass? MP60s will be fine, but MP40s problematic. Hydro wizard make some really big pumps, but they're 'intrusive' and $$$$.

I have 2 xf150s on my 6ft tank (one on each side) and they are only on 50% power.

Vortech's on the back wall facing forward is another option possibly.
Might also think about sea swirls on the returns.

I have a 120" long tank and since yours is glass I imagine you are less then 1" thick so you have a lot of choices. For my tank the Acrylic is 1" thick so the majority of pumps that mounted with a magnet were out of the picture. Personally, I went with a closed loop.

2 x RD3 230w Pumps with 2 x OM 4 ways.

If I was going to go with pumps to mount to the glass, having had the MP60s and the Gyres I would personally go with a ECM 63.

Expensive, yes, but built to last and can push more water then any pump its size.

Thanks everyone.

The glass is 3/4" thick

It's going to be built into the wall with the through view so I can't put anything on the back wall for flow. It all has to come from the ends

I really think I'll just add two mp60s to my two mp40s

The gyres look cool as well

This is also my dream tank. I had a 180 built into the wall of my old house but I had to tear it down when I sold the house. The good thing is I'm building a new house so I can build this beast right into the floor plan from the start.

My next question is how many G4 radion pros would I need to cover 24" x 130"?

For SPS, you will need two every two feet to cover like a MH or T5 would. One every two feet for less light and more shadowing. ...a lot.

For larger tanks, reflectors offer a huge advantage. ...so do the heat from lights. LEDs are not a good choice for larger tanks unless you gotta have the thunderstorms and to change them on your android from the couch.

I don't need the thunderstorms but I do want ramping up and down of the lights. That's why I like leds. At 130" I'm gonna get 5 radions and see if they cover. If not I'll have to squeeze them in and go with 6 fixtures.

It will be mostly sps and higher light demanding corals.

I hope that you can get away with 5 or 6, but if you really want the higher light demanding corals, then I would plan on twice that many down the road. Radions are not that high light fixtures to being with and being point source, they create a lot of shadows - this is OK when the corals are small, but as they grow they get really pale on the underside and start to die from the base up as they start to turn into colonies... so folks have to add more.

Some wider panels like Reefbreeders, Acroptics or Pacific Sun really help with shadowing, but people complain about the light blending on those. There is no "perfect" LED that does both.

I am not saying that you cannot do Ok with them, just have a plan for when 5 or 6 will not nearly be enough. If you don't think that you can swing a dozen of them, then you might want to consider something else - this is a lot of money not to understand that it might not be enough for you down the road.

FWIW - Dr. Joshi needed 8 Radions on a 6 foot tank to replace 3 MHs that he ran before. He said at MACNA that it still probably was not totally equal in output but was the same in wattage.

Build solatubes into the house and bring in the sun, much better. Use some t5 actinics for extra blue.

Check your alkalinity test kit! Algae is Mother Natures phosphate remover Current Tank Info: 220 galon mixed reef.
