X-Mas Tree Rocks

Used to see them all the time, then not at all. Been seeing them again and bought a couple a few months ago. So far so good in the frag tank where there are no fish to nibble at the frilly parts.

Sorry for the crappy pictures.

Top picture is under 14K MH; the second under LED. The historical wisdom always was, keep the porites alive and the worms will too. Wonder if that's really true? I feed my frag tank with coral foods periodically, so that helps the worms I am sure. I figure if the common fanworms can proliferate in my system (and they do) these should be good as well.

Got back into the hobby ..... planned to keep it simple ..... yeah, right ..... clearly I need a new plan! Pet peeve: anemones host clowns; clowns do not host anemones!

Current Tank Info: 450 Reef; 120 refugium; 60 Frag Tank, 30 Introduction tank; multiple QTs

I don't want to knock historical wisdom but my worms disappeared long ago yet the porites thrives. Except for it's smooth texture which contrasts with everything else in the tank it's not much to look at without the worms. I did drip in some product that was supposed to be coral food at the time.

For me it's the nostalgia factor since there are quite a few you can see when you dive in the keys. Porites itself isn't a super exciting coral, I agree.
