Placement of 2 Gyre's

Trying to determine the best placement for 2 gyres. I'm looking to get a more random flow, so I was thinking about setting them up directly across from each other. But I've also seen other setups where the gyres are on the same side, one horizontal and one vertical...any suggestions.?? I'm thinking about running them in Lunar Tidal Cycle mode, but any feedback on that would be great as well.

I have a Gyre set up sideways and I find it disturbs the sand a lot, I may move it. Unless you have a deep tank, it could be an issue for you.

Are they first-generation with each having their own controller? If so you can achieve the random by putting them on opposite ends facing each other and setting 1 to about the 5th last circular dot for frequency, and the other at a few dots closer to rapid-fire. They will hardly ever line up synchronized and will instead generate very random patterns of flow as they collide at different intensities.

I don't think I have too deep of a tank (24 inches). One of the gyre's is a 130, the other is the new 230, so both will be on the same controller. That's why I'm thinking of having both horizontal, directly across from each other on either random mode or one of the preset options the have (lunar tidal or ocean gyre). Guess I can move them around and play with it a bit, see what works best.

Just looking for a followup. I am trying to get the placement just right and looking for what others have done.

I have a 180 they are placed across from each other and they are set to ramp up to 100% over 10 seconds. (I have the IceCap Version).

I also have two mp40s about 1/2 way down on both sides also.

Its good flow just wanting something a little more random.

I was wondering about this too as I am planning on purchasing 2 icecap gyres with individual controllers. My tank will be deep though (31") so I was planning on putting them horizontally on the same side one several inces down from the other and then also running high powered powerheads low in the tank (24" wide)

I may be reading into this wrong, if so, please correct me. You looking to use the 2 gyres on the 28 gallon?
