40 Gallon Breeder Stock List Check

Good morning fellow reefers!

I am curious as to whether or not I am fully stocked or if there is room for another fish or two. Possibly a small puffer.

I have a 40 gallon breeder with overflow, 10 gallon sump/refugium setup which was FOWLR intended which has since turned into a "mixed" tank.

Current fish stock list includes:
1x fuzzy dwarf lionfish (trained him to eat reef frenzy)
2x mated clown fish (1x black ice, 1x phantom)
2x mated or sibling green chromis (school together)
1x mexican cerith snail (in sump)
4x margarita snail (in sump)
4x peppermint shrimp (in display)

Current coral stock list includes:
1x acid splash GBTA
2 colony pulsing xenia
1x rogue zoa polyp

End Goal is to have a pulsing xenia tank with as many GBTA as she wants to split into.

Equipment:
OceanRevive ARCTIC-T247 Lights
Bubble-magus G3.5 Skimmer
10 Gallon Multi-chamber Sump/Refugium
40 Gallon Bare Bottom Breeder
40-50 lbs Live Rock
RIO+110 Return Pump (I think 300gph - runs wide open)
2x Sun JPV 530 GPH Powerheads (1 in display, 1 in refugium)

It's known that puffers nip at the fins of lionfish, so I don't know how that will work out for you. Maybe do a couple fairy wrasses. Very colorful.

Hey scooter!!!!!!

As you have stated (and did my friends upon questioning) the puffer, due to nipping, will not be compatible with the lionfish. I have re-evaluated. I have removed my Black Ice Clown from the time of my last post (it was the female of the mated pair and was too aggressive). The phantom clown has been more active and eating more regularly ever since so I am not upset TBH. My ultimate goal as of 3:12 PM eastern time on July 19, 2017 is to run a tank with 5x blue/green chromis, 1x phantom clown fish, and big hoss himself 1x fuzzy dwarf lionfish. Any issues (minus the usual: he will eat those fish as snacks) is greatly welcomed. Possibility of fish being eaten has been acknowledged and documented. I will be the first to report a death. However, at this moment in time, I feel my lionfish has a long while before considering chromis as food. :crazy face:

The only issue I see with that is sometimes with Chromis they will kill each other off and you will be down to 1. So you might want to rethink that one too. Like I mentioned early some fairy wrasses would be great. Also look at some small blennies and the Falco hawkfish, firefish, chalk bass, orchlid dottyback can be all good candidates for your tank. At any stage, the lionfish should be the last introduction.

I have had my two chromis two years now and they dont fight at all. I started with three, but one got stuck in my overflow and died.
