Using tank for reef setup after QT

Hello everyone,

I wanted to get some input on an idea that I had. I was planning on taking my current 10g QT and turning into a nano reef. My main question was whether this would be OK given that I had used copper (cupramine) in it for years. It's just a basic standard QT (HOB, heater, PVC, airstone). There are no rocks, sand, etc. I plan to discard all of the water, clean the tank thoroughly, and start from scratch.

From what I've read, cupramine doesn't linger in silicone, etc. Nevertheless I wanted to double check to see if there were any other thoughts on this matter before delving in.

Thanks!
Kryzzy

While it is unlikely why go through the bother for a $10 tank? Just buy a new one

Some have bar tabs. I have a coral tab at my LFS. Life goals.

Sure, but the one I have is a perfectly good tank, and I have no desire to throw it away. I'd rather make use of it if I can. It would just an extra unused tank if I were to buy a new one.

I am also just curious about the matter in general.

For a 10 gallon tank I don't think its worth the risk. You could test it with snails maybe.
