Raising a stand 8"
Purchased a used stand and canopy, it's a little too short.. approximately 8"
Would it be safe and possible to build a 8" box with cross supports and screw it into the stand? Using 2x8s and screws, basically making another bottom for the stand? Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk |

What size tank ??? Weight is always a issue imo and it's got to be dead on size wise so no stress cracks safer to extend the legs IMO

Yeah I've built platforms for people like this, 2x8's and 3/4 ply, make sure to make bottom joists across and not just a hollow box, 16" OC minimum.

That's the plan.. it's a standard 125.. 72x18x23..
The height of the bottom if the tank will go from 28" to 36".. making top of tank going from 51" to 59"... so not extremely high... Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk |

I built a 10" riser for my 10' by 30" 350. Piece of cake.
I had the local big box cut all my pieces of 2x10 board and 5/8 plywood to size, screwed it together with 3" deck screws and painted it. Took about 2 hours and $100.

As all have said, easy. I might consider making it oversize, however, so that you have a bit of a step builtin to make for easier access. I have to pull out a step stool everytime my urchin knocks something over.

^^ Yeah I've built w/ step before and it is nice and can even add a nice detail if done properly, and if you have the room for it.
Just make sure if you do you either don't need a ladder to get deep in there or only go far out enough to still be able to get one close enough.
