Does adding tisbe pods help?
I never see any pods in my tank. A friend of mine had them crawling all over like little bugs last time I saw his tank. I am placing an order online and see tisbe pods available. Are bottled pods a good way to get them into your tank?

Question you have to ask yourself, do I have predators of pods?
I never see pods in my tank either(keep in mind most can't be seen with the naked eye), but I have a leopard wrasse and mandarin that are both very fat and happy. I add pods like every 6 months or so and buy them from algaebarn. They have a nice mix of tisbe and tigriopus pods(poseidon's feast), that they sell with phyto if your looking to seed and breed them in your tank.

I just have two clownfish that I always see scouting the rocks and nipping/hunting when the lights first turn on. I guess I do not need pods but I remember having them in my last tank and enjoyed watching the clownfish hunt them. Guess I don't need them though.

They are there. They may all be in the crevices in the rocks where your fish can't get to them, but they are there.
My leopard wrasses spend all day every day hunting amongst the rocks picking at whatever they find.

My tank crashed about 3 months ago now.. lost all but 2 of my crustaceans (problem was solved and cleared up)
I think I lost most of my pods as well.. before.. had em crawling everywhere.. after. I see a couple now and then.. I've been thinking about ordering some myself.. for helping out with genetic diversity... and I like watching the amphipods swimming around. I have no fish at the moment Sent from my SM-S907VL using Tapatalk |

I have 3 Halichoeres wrasse and 1 Macropharyngodon wrasse. I never see a pod even after lights out. I'm sure there are a few but not many. If you have wrasses in either of these genera that's the reason you don't have many.

Purely anecdotal, but I had a recent issue with dino, and during the ugly phase, I could see pods getting stuck in it everywhere! They were going crazy trying to get out, and my Scooter loved it; it was just a giant buffet for him...
Personally, I have never added pods to my tank, but I got over 50lbs of well-established live rock from someone, and it already had lots of goodies, (including bristleworms, which scared the ever-loving s*** out of me at first.) |
