Random Thoughts on a Closed Loop
Planning to have a Vectra-powered CL on my new tank, pushing through an oceans motion diverter via dual returns. But something occurred to me. Could I run dual Vectras, sharing the 1 1/2" suction, with each outputting into an independent 1" return? Maybe even set one to be anti synch with the other (not sure if that mode is available in the Vectra, will have to check). Will that work I wonder?

Do the vectra pumps go down to zero? If so I bet you'll get back siphoning if they are out of sync. Actually, any time they're out of sync even a bit, the one set higher will be robbing some performance from the one set lower.
Even in sync there will be at least some minor reduction in performance since I am guessing the 1.5" intake isn't nearly big enough to avoid a pressure drop. No opportunity for a second intake? On the other hand, if you screened the return openings to keep livestock out, the back siphoning might be a really cool effect in terms of random motion in the tank.

You can calibrate them so that they do not go down to zero, but your point was exactly what I was thinking about, whether the pump that was running higher would 'steal' from the one that was not.
Probably a hair-brained idea .... that introduces unnecessary complexity.

It would still work, though. Might be kind of cool.
