I've had three fish jump in three months!

What in the world?! First my watchman goby jumped. Not even in the tank 24 hours. Okay, chalked that up to that being a jumping fish. I knew it going in. But next one to take the leap was a green chromis. That one took me by surprise. But last night my Clown, oldest in the tank, took a header. What in the world! I owned a tank for years prior to this and had one fish jump. I've had three in three months. Thought that was weird. Guess I'm just venting 'cause I realize there isn't really an explanation. Needless to say, working up plans to purchase a screen top from BRS. Just a little disappointed to have lost three fish in such a short time.

I just put together their screentops as well and am pretty satisfied. For the price, they are pretty good, and were easy to put together. In the long run I'd like to add artfully acrylics top to the tank.

by chance did you order additional window corner pieces? I am going to do a workaround for my overflow and need additional corners. I'm sure they are the same color. But in the picture they looked like a different color. Just wanted to make sure before ordering. Don't want it looking hodge podge.

Other then the plastic screening BRS sells, the frame and corner pieces are loads cheaper at lowes or HD.

Did you scare the fish with your face hence why they planned their jump to freedom (of course death)?

I'm only joking, don't take it personal. In all seriousness, Ive had my expensive jawfish take a jump and dive a few months back didn't discover his skeleton till I was cleaning out my skimmer..sigh.

On a more hilarious note, had my yellow watchman take a jump into my feeding cup with some Larry's Reef Food I was preparing, heard a splashing noise in my cup only to find him with his mouth full and and a belly fatter than a penny, quickly dumped him back in with the food.

Buy the frame, corners, and spline at Home Depot/Lowes. Get the mesh from BRS.

Rather than mess with too many corner pieces to allow for cords, just cut a slit in the mesh - don't remove any - just make a slit big enough to get the plug through. It will pretty much self-heal around the cord quite nicely for you.

Also - consider making the tops (left side and right side) in two pieces each. One as narrow as possible to go across the back (with the slits for your cords) and a larger front section to cover the rest. That way you can leave the back piece alone 99% of the time and still have an easily removable front section.
