It somewhat depends on the brand.

Regular instant ocean can be kept indefinitely. Some flavors have organics that degrade.

I use Reef Crystals and I noticed that after a week or so, ALK Cal and Mag levels drop significantly compared to a mix that's been in a bucket for only a day. Now I only mix as much as I need a day or two before a water change. But if you have a FOWLR tank then it doesn't matter. I also hear that keeping the water heated for long periods of time will cause precipitation as well. But I haven't tested that out yet.

As long as you want...but I doubt this should be more than 3 months or your making too much. While I powerhead mine for movement and mix, I have never heater as It is not required. If you make only partial water changes, the temp does not drop enough unless you are changes for more than 20%.
Then again.....it does not hurt....so no problems
