I really like this set up

I think your right...very cool! I looked into having a drop off built and the builders I talked to would not build it. Either they were not comfortable doing it or just came right out and said we haven’t developed a way to build a DO to their comfort level. I have seen a couple of tanks built like this his and they are eye catchers for sure.

Love the drop off tank, though never have attempted one personally. The ones that are available for sale as stock items are all quite small. If I was going to attempt a big one, I'd go with acrylic - stronger seams (well, if built correctly). I'd also want the 'regular' section to be typical tank height, with the drop section much deeper; which adds complications.
