algae scrubber screen storage
I have to take my ATS off-line for a few weeks. What is a good way to store the screen. Keep in the dark in SW? Keep under limited light and "feed" in SW? Dry it out?
Any advice would be appreciated. |

If you expect the algae on it to stay alive then I would store it wet..
What about just turning the light off on it? No idea why you need to take it offline though..

Long story... but I had a terrible GHA problem from when my old skimmer cracked and it took me 6 weeks to get the new one broken in. During that time I implemented an algae scrubber that took off really well and established a screen that is growing nicely and my phosphate and nitrate levels are now well under control.
Unfortunately, despite a lot of manual removal I still have a fair amount of GHA that I can't get rid of. So I am going to treat the tank with fluconazole for 14-21 days to finish it off. I want to preserve the scrubber screen as much as possible during that time. |
