40G - Brooklyn stand - supported by ends only
Hi all,
I have a 40g breeder with a Brooklyn metal stand (petco). I can see light between the bottom sides and the stand - the tank is supported by either end. Is this okay? |

Can you place a firm foam along the stand top and replace your tank? I have a piece of granite on my stand top for a smaller tank to sit on.

I use this instead after seeing it from a DIY stand video on YouTube:
https://www.homedepot.com/p/Edsal-72...5WGB/202067995 It's currently holding my 40G Breeder tank and so far it's been holding up for days. It has 4000lb capacity. I have 30lbs of items on the first deck (I will soon put a 10G tank). The 40G tank is on the second deck. I used the extra 4th and 5th deck as second shelving on my storage room to store laundry lol. If you are going with my route, I suggest buying a hardwood plywood in Home Depot and ask it to be cut by 18 x 36. DO NOT use the provided wood from the item. It will sit exactly at the shelving. The 40G will fit exactly with the Edsal stand even with the side posts extended (it feels as if this shelving was made for the 40 G). Building the shelving is clunky though. You'd need to hammer the corner so it will sit correctly. At the end of the day, this shelving relies on gravity. |
