My experience with hydrogen peroxide and a question.

Hi all,

I had algae on my rocks. They were DIY rocks. They are about 3 years old. They have always had algae.

I read about using hydrogen peroxide to get rid of the algae. I used a mixture of 25% hydrogen peroxide to 75% saltwater.

I dipped a couple smaller rocks. Dipped them briefly. Maybe a couple minutes or so. Results were good. No deaths and the rocks were clean and whitish.

I dipped a larger rock. Maybe a little longer. Lost a yellow toadstool that was attached to the rock. Then lost a sea urchin. Not good. But the rock did come clean and has a whitest color.

I hate the algae and want a clean tank. So I took a couple of LPS off a larger rock. I had some softies that I couldnt remove. And I dipped the larger rock.

The algae is pretty much gone from the bigger rock. And I haven't lost any corals from this dip. But the color of this larger rock is darker. It looks like I took it out of a fire. Any reason why the rock have a blackish color? Anything I can do to make it look cleaner. Thats my question and my info. Thanks!

Here is a picture. The rock to the right is the one that is darker
