ATO hissing noise
I have the neptune atk, not the full apex, I bought it because I liked the fact the pump can go vertically 14'. I ran mine approximately 10' vertically to my main level from the basement. I noticed that after it refills to the appropriate level it makes a hissing noise. Now I know this is just air in the pump but it is kind of annoying, so I'm wondering if this is normal or is there a way to eliminate the hissing sound?
Thanks! |

It is normal. It is air being pulled back through the float valve when the pump shuts off and the water in the line flows back to the source tank. You could install a check valve in the line at the pump outlet so the water remains in the line when the pump shuts off. Another option would be to just remove the float valve but then you loose one level of fail safe.

Hi and thanks for the replies.
So I'd need a check valve for a 1/4" line then? and I would put it just after where it connects to the pump? Just want to make sure I do this properly. |
