where to buy a custom wood stand & canopy?

I can't seem to find a place online that makes good custom /or stock wood stands with a canopy for my 90 gallon tank, does anybody know of one??
Thanks,
Rick

Depends on how "good" you are looking for. A local cabinet maker would be able to do something for you if you can't find a "stock" stand you like.

My buddy can make one but like others have said how custom are you talking about and how exotic is the wood you want? Or are you thinking plywood or hard wood? Keep in mind most now are made out of cheep plywood usually only a few layers thick from factory. Its strong paintableand keeps cost low. Real wood can vary greatly depending on type.

I got mine made, but I looked at craigslist and the local reef forum community.
If you want something good custom made, it will be heavy and shipping wont be cheap. Your best bet is to go pick it up.

I could certainly make one for the OP, but it won't be light, it won't be inexpensive (depending on details - I can bang together a unskinned 2x stand in an afternoon for cost + $100), and I won't ship or deliver.

This is the one I made for my 120. Cherry with Ebony inlay.

Im in Ohio I had the Amish near me make a lot of our wood furniture including tank stand, not very cheap but finding an actual carpenter is like trying to find a blacksmith. Since you’re in New York they have their fair share of Amish as well.

Go to your local fish store. Most decent stores have a stand maker they work with to do custom stands.

Just look in the yellow pages for a cabinet maker.

Wait that might be to old school. Ok google cabinet makers in your area.

Black Walnut from the local lumberyard is $6/bf, but you'll need a full woodshop to make use of it including a jointer, planer, and tablesaw. The skills to use it all is what ends up costing the most.

Zebrawood is beautiful, but ~$12.50/bf at Woodcraft. You couldn't make me use Ironwood - it is way too dense and will dull every tool you own.

This is what I would suggest.

There is a FB page I follow called driftwood aquarium furniture, they make nice stuff and I'm sure ship, but they won't be cheap.

+1 just find a local cabinet maker that can build from scratch.
