Clownfish Red Carpet Condo

Hello everyone this is my Clownfish Red Carpet Condo tank. It is the nuvo cylinder aquarium acrylic. A160WE Tuna Blue Kessil lighting. Two black and white mature clowns I have had since babies. And a beautiful red carpet anemone about 16 inches across which has a baby growing on the side as you can see in pic. Any questions please ask Thank you

Nope. You post it in the right room. Love the color of the haddoni. I have one, but the color is not as bright red as yours. Mine is dull.

O nice. How long have you had it? Mine came in a little on the dull side and brightened up in about 3 months or so. But I have seen some brighter than mine also.

I think the debate is still out as to whether or not S. haddoni (and other species of Stichodactyla) reproduce via budding/pedal laceration. Your nem could've been injured and healed in a manner where it appears to have a "baby" so I wouldn't call it one, unless it actually drops off and forms a new nem.

Here's a link to the sticky about pedal laceration:

http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1942967

Keep in mind that the thread quickly morphs into a treatment debate, so you only need to read the first couple of pages.

The short story is that so little is known about reproduction with haddoni and gigantea anemones, and it's only been within the past 10 years or so that more than a handful of carpet anemones have survived long enough in captivity to show any signs of reproduction. Only one person that I know of has gigantea that have had eggs and eventually babies.

No problem.

I forgot to mention that I think your nem has really nice color. I may add one to my new tank once it's ready for one.

That looks great. My guess is it will push all those rocks out of the way in search of a deper sand bed though.

I'll go out on a limb and say 12 gallons.

Beautiful anemone, good luck with it in such a small space.
