Return Sump Pump

Hi all!

New to the forums and looking forward to hearing all the great advice in the days/weeks/months to come!

Looking for a little input on sump pumps and which would best suit my needs.

I'm looking at purchasing the Sicce Syncra Silent 2.0 (568 gph) or 3.0 (714 gph) (maybe 2.5 if I can find a place to buy)

Head pressure will be about 5'-6' (where pump sits in the bottom of the sump to the output in the display tank). Pipe diameter will be 1" (or possibly 3/4" as these are the 2 predrilled hile sizes). Eventually want to include a UV sterilizer (maybe a reactor) 40 gallon tank with 20 gallon sump. Most interested in a LPS and softie tank.

Thank you all!

What size is your tank? We really can't help you without that info. I general you want a little extra pump so you can add reactors later. I'm not a big UV fan, but I do like to run reactors off the return pump. You should plan on about 5% of your display tank in GPH flow pluss extra for the reactors or sterilizer.

Thanks for the responses guys!

I understood I needed the 5x - 10x, but was getting lost in the Sicce chart regarding gph with head heights and wasnt sure how the addons would impact that.

Thanks again

I'd go with the 3 if you plan to run a manafold. The 2 would get you around 200-300 gph at 5 feet which would be fine but if you want to run other things then go for the 3.

Just read these are adjustable, so even better

I love the summer variety packs. There's just something about Sam Adams.

Just try not to go too much over gph of your skimmer with the return pump. Most of your flow will be from the power heads. You don't want to move the water too fast through the sump.

Thanks all!! Went with the 3.0 due to it being adjustable and the future addition of a manafold!!
