UV sterilizer - New bulb

I picked up a new bulb for my UV sterilizer and I was wondering if there was a burn in time that is recommended to achieve normal lifespan of the bulb.
In other words, should I turn it on and leave it on for a number of hours before I turn it off. Or does the initial illumination period not affect the life of the bulb.

There is no burn in period for UV sterilzer bulbs. UV sterilzer bulbs are designed to be run 24/7 and should be turned on and left on. If you shut them off regularly, you WILL shorten the life of the bulb resulting in premature failure/degradation of the bulb and even the ballast. Leaving them on 24/7 will result in the longest lifespan of the bulb.

+1 it will shorten the lifespan of the bulbs by nearly half
