will this work
okay i'm new to all of this but i built a tank. I built a 4'x 2' x 2' tank out of 1/2 inch acrylic. planing on using 2.5" PVC on the overflow box and 1" on the returns. The purple is the main drain with the blue being the back-up to the main drain. the red line is the emergency line. and the orange line is the returns. the green line is a close loop that i plan on using. and also planing on putting 2 gyros on the back wall. both pumps i'm looking to do around 500gph.
the black box on the orange line is going to be a squid wave maker from marine depot. Should this work? Also, if I run the sump should the protein skimmer come before or after the refugium? |

2.5" pipes for the drains? That is a bit of over kill.

I have a 120 48" x 24" x 24"
Using a Synergy Reef Shadow Overflow. (3) 1-1/2" drains Bean style. Using a COR 20 set at 75% max, with (2) 1" returns. One is supplying the UV ~ 600 gph. The other is straight to the tank ~ 250 gph. I have the gate valve slightly closed (~1/4) to keep it full. It runs dead quiet. The other two do not flow any water at all. So bottom line, I'm running ~ 850 gph thru a 1-1/2" return, and that's with the gate value about 1/4 closed. More info with pictures in my build thread. See signature for link.
