MOB122's Tank Journal - Nothing to see here
Hello Reef Central.
I've lurked around here and nano-reef.com for quite some time, but am otherwise entirely new to keeping a saltwater tank. I've done quite a bit of research into this hobby but am definitely still learning (a common theme in life, it seems). Up until late last year, golf pretty much consumed all my free time, but with two kids under the age of four - 2 and 4 to be exact - it's pretty difficult to do anything for 4-5 consecutive hours these days. I'll get back to golf in a serious capacity someday, but right now it is definitely more important to bond with and engage my kids in something we can all enjoy together. My wife has even begun showing some interest! I guess that's all a long way of saying I recently blew a bunch of money on getting a 10 Gallon tank started and am currently about 3/4 through the cycle. I'll try my best to keep the "noob" stuff to the appropriate sub-forums, but I want to be able to keep a journal from start to finish either way. Equipment: IM NUVO FUSION 10 GALLON KESSIL A80 W/ GOOSENECK IM CUSTOMCADDY MEDIA BASKET 10LBS "LIVE" SAND 10LBS AQUAMAXX ECOROCK DRY ROCK + .5 LBS LIVE ROCK FROM LFS TO SEED SICCE SYNCRA SILENT .5 PUMP WITH IM SPINSTREAM UPGRADE EHEIM JAGER 50 WATT HEATER Filtration: CHEMIPURE BLUE FILTER FLOSS OPEN TO OTHER IDEAS, BUT LOOKING TO KEEP THIS SIMPLE Livestock: CUC - PROBABLY A COUPLE SNAILS AND A SHRIMP/CRAB 2 OCELLARIS CLOWNFISH 1 GOBY Corals: COMPLETELY UNDECIDED, BUT WILL GO WITH SOFT CORAL AND SOME LPS Here's some shots of the tank as i've been going through the cycle: |
