RO/DI water storage contaminated

I have been using a small plastic waste basket as a storage for my RO/DI water.
I have been fighting hair algae with water changes. I decided to check my storage water and found it is no longer zero contaminants. I think this hapened with dust etc getting in from the top on the waste basket.

Any suggestions on how to seal off the top?

I use a 35g storage container bought from a farm supply store. works great, has a lid, fitting for drain on the bottom. I keep it up on a shelf 6' off the ground so when i need to mix water i just open a valve and fill my bucket. i think it was $100? put in an RO float valve so my system just automatically tops it off after i use some. super handy.

Unless you have your tank sealed then the same stuff is getting into it. I would look elsewhere for your algae issue.

You don't define contaminants. Are you just saying your tds is no longer zero or did you test it for something like phosphates?
